a bit about us

Wayland’s Yard is a place for the whole community to gather and enjoy proper coffee and proper food. Whether it’s to meet friends, make new friends, work on your latest project or simply grab a coffee before jumping on the train. Wayland’s has got you covered.

the story

With a passion for speciality coffee and a season spent on the sidelines due to injury, the concept of Wayland's Yard has been brought to life. Sam Smith, previously found playing rugby on the wing for Worcester Warriors and formally Harlequins, has turned a career ending injury into making his long-term dream a reality. This isn't just another coffee shop, but a way for Sam to give back to Worcester, the city that he now calls home.

the coffee

Our single origin speciality grade beans have been carefully sourced from some of the worlds best farms and are hand roasted just 15 miles from the shop by our friends Mark and Tre at Method Roastery. We are constantly striving for that perfect shot of espresso and the passion of our highly skilled baristas will shine through in every cup. We have developed an amazing espresso blend with Method and will also be serving their single origin coffees on our brew bar through a variety of pour over filter methods. Want to learn more about our coffee or the world class La Marzocco and Mahlkönig equipment we use then please ask!

the food

If it isn't locally sourced and made fresh to order then it isn't served in Wayland's Yard. Our menu changes the meaning of brunch, check out the game changing toast options, cooked breakfasts, pancakes and oat options - we have all manner of tastes and appetites covered. All our meat is from the surrounding area, our bread is baked locally by Ma Baker's and our cakes made freshly in house. We feel passionately about providing for everyone, therefore we have a range of tasty veggie, gluten free and vegan options.
